Hannah Diamond is a British multidisciplinary artist renowned for her distinctive 360° pop music project, seamlessly integrating photographic self-portraits, experimental pop music, and performance.
Blending high fidelity with high definition, Hannah’s signature visual world is defined by a “hyper-real” dedication to extreme pop perfection, drawing inspiration from pop music, 1980s Japanese airbrush art, and 1990s and 2000s commercial fashion and cosmetics campaigns.
Hannah's photographs magnify the personalities of her subjects, extending their identities to every pixel in the frame. Her work embodies the essence of popstar transformation, capturing both the bold exterior and the nuanced emotional interior in a single shot. compressing and transforming her subjects into high-definition icons.
At the heart of her self portrait practice and pop project is a critical exploration of “girled” images mediated through screens and popular culture. She explores post-internet femininity where girlishness extends beyond gender to become its own visual language and performance of identity. Drawing on the aesthetics of pop idols, internet culture, and the bedroom as ground zero for all “girled” experiences, her work examines how the girl becomes both subject and spectacle.
Over the past decade, the images she has created for herself and her label mates at the influential London-based label PC Music have solidified her as a creative visionary. Her work has profoundly shaped the aesthetics of the 'experimental pop' and 'hyperpop' movements, inspiring both underground and mainstream pop artists alike.
Hannah's unique perspective and extensive experience both behind and in front of the camera have led to high-profile collaborations as a photographer and creative director with numerous talents, magazines, and brands. Her commercial clients include Mac Cosmetics Starship Entertainment, Columbia Records, XL Recordings, Warner Music, Nike, Charli XCX, and SOPHIE.
